HENDERSON, Nev. April 3, 2008 Frank Lowery, Race Director of the Nevada Silverman Triathlon announced today the 4th Annual Multigenerational Spring Youth Triathlon will take place on Sunday, April 27, 2008. The race will take place at the Henderson Multigenerational Center, located off of the I-215 and Green Valley Parkway. The event has the support of great local sponsors, including McDonalds, City of Henderson, Douglas Clark Attorneys, Barry Lasko, DDS, Village Runner and many more. Ronald McDonald will be at the event to cheer the kids on and get the community involved.
With the growing childhood obesity epidemic, this is the perfect opportunity to get your kids out in the beautiful spring weather for some fun and exercise, said Lowery. The kids have a great time and the event is always fun to watch as these young competitors battle it out in the water and on land.
Held in the traditional triathlon format, athletes ranging in age from 6 14 will participate in three consecutive sports in the following order swimming, biking and running. The triathlon will consist of a 200-yard swim, 2 mile bike and 1 mile run. Both the kids and their parents will have a greater understanding of how important exercise and a healthy lifestyle will play in their future. For more information or to register for the race please contact Frank Lowery at flowery719@cox.net.
