Volunteers

Plans for the 2nd Annual Nevada
Silverman are well underway and we’re looking for volunteers! Last year was a HUGE success due largely in part to the 800+ incredible volunteers we had working with us! Participants benefited from a 4:1 volunteer to athlete ratio; something that is virtually unheard of in this sport!  We’ve heard nothing but compliments from our 2005 finishers who have raved about how supportive and encouraging the volunteers and Henderson Community were. And this year we’d love nothing more than to outdo ourselves! That means we need 1000 of the most energetic, helpful people we can find! So we need your help!!

What’s New for 2006?
We’ve made a lot of great additions to the race this year that we’re really excited about! First and foremost is the Centra Challenge offering 100K to the first relay team to break 8 hours on the Silverman course! You could potentially see some Olympic swimmers or runners and Tour de France riders battling it out for the prize!!   We’ve also expanded our Volunteer Team and added two wonderfully dynamic people to ensure that the volunteer process is as smooth as possible! Jayne Furman, a local triathlete, was a HUGE help to us last year by tackling all of the numerous administrative tasks we threw her way. She’s passionate about what we’re doing and she’s one heck of a workhorse! Paula Martel has also proved to be an excellent resource for us. As a board member for the Volunteer Center of Southern Nevada, she has a breadth of knowledge in organizing and facilitating large groups such as this. Plus she’s connected with everyone in Las Vegas! I am thankful that I got “dibbs” on these two before Frank put them to work somewhere else!

What’s in it for me?
Aside from watching some of the best endurance athletes in the world, you can expect a great day!  You’ll be surrounded by awesome people, our Volunteer tent will be stocked with plenty of complimentary food and beverages to fill your bellies, you’ll get a smokin’ Silverman t-shirt, a goody bag, and a chance to be a part of history! In addition, we’ll be offering up killer prizes to the best aid stations on the bike and run course again! Last year we had a myriad of themes including “Superheroes,” “An Oasis in the Desert” – even belly dancers and this year we’re anticipating even more pizzazz!! But if all of these great benefits still aren’t enough to get you to come out and help, we’ll be bringing in Outback Steakhouse to host a Volunteer Appreciation BBQ a couple of weeks after the race as our way of saying “thank you.”  There will be raffles, great food and much, much more!

I wanna help! What do I do next?
