In Coordination with Operation Rebound, Silverman Officials are Excited to Announce the Addition of Relay Teams to the Half- Tri!

In coordination with Operation Rebound and the Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) we would like to introduce the 2008 Silverman Half-Tri Relay Challenge. After countless requests we have finally decided to give all of our competitors the opportunity to form relay teams for the Silverman half-tri, all while supporting the men and women who fight for our freedom each and every day. In order to participate in this exciting opportunity, interested athletes must form a relay team, which will be responsible for raising a minimum of $3,000 per team. Some of these teams may have the opportunity to race with an injured veteran of Operation Rebound as a member of their relay team. 100% of money raised will be sent to the CAF in support of our disabled veterans and troops returning from the Global War on Terror.

Operation Rebound is an organization, which provides unparalleled sports opportunities and support to our troops and veterans of any branch of service who have suffered permanent physical injuries in the recent conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq.

The organization was formed in 2004 when the Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) recognized a critical need among the brave members of our armed forces returning from the Global War on Terror who had suffered permanent physical disabilities - such as an amputation -- in combat. That need was for mentorship and community with athletes who had prevailed over similar circumstances and shared similar experiences. It became part of CAF's mission to help show injured service members that they could be whole again through participation in sports - at any level. CAF established Operation Rebound to create a valuable resource that these service members and veterans can use after they return home - or to their home base. The program is here to help them meet their athletic goals, whether it's finishing their local 5K, playing soccer with their family - or competing in Silverman. For more information on Operation Rebound and the Challenged Athletes Foundation, or to make a donation, please visit the organizations Web site at www.challengedathletes.org.

In partnering with Operation Rebound, Silverman officials are now allowing athletes to participate at a brand new level. Athletes may only register for the half-tri relay if they agree to the fund raising responsibilities of a $3,000 minimum in support of the organization. These athletes also receive a separate start wave, a separate VIP tent on race weekend, online fundraising support from the Challenged Athletes Foundation, Operation Rebound training uniforms, special seating at the pre-race pasta dinner, and a special pre-race prep session with the troops and Team Operation Rebound athletes, and more.
