Silverman Challenges Any Combination Relay Team to Break 8 Hours
Imagine watching the some of the best swimmers, cyclists and runners in the world all competing for $100,000.00 in one location. This scenario just may play out at the 2006 Nevada Silverman Triathlon. A $100,000.00 prize purse will be awarded to the first combination relay team that can break the 8-hour mark on the course. Although this has been achieved in the past at other races, 8 hours still maintains its allure as “the time to beat” and has never before been offered up as a challenge for any relay team. Teams can consist of any combination of professional or amateur athletes willing to take the challenge.
“This challenge opens up the sport of triathlons in the sense that we are no longer just attracting triathletes to the Silverman, we are opening the doors to the best runners, bikers and swimmers in the world - that may not otherwise extend their normal athletic careers into the triathlon community,” said Lowery. “We are challenging athletes in all three sports to form a dream team and go home with $100,000.00.”
The Nevada Silverman Triathlon intends to initiate in-competition drug testing at the 2006 Event. All participants will be subject to testing which will be conducted in accordance with the World Anti-Doping Agencies International Standards for Doping Control. The specific details of the testing program will be announced to all participants prior to the event.
